“What is SCRIP?”

SCRIP is  just a fancy word meaning gift certificates and gift cards.  There is no difference between cash and scrip when you go shopping. When you purchase and use these cards, Nativity of Mary School earns money when you buy everyday items, like groceries, toiletries and gas.  The best part is that it doesn’t cost you one extra cent.  Nativity of Mary School has over 70 vendors to choose from, and new ones are being added all the time.

Here’s how the SCRIP program works. Nativity of Mary School purchases these gift cards and gift certificates at a discounted price. Discounts range from 2% to 20%.   You purchase these gift cards and certificates at full face value and use them in stores you are already frequenting.  It’s that simple!

Here’s an example. In a typical week, Jane Q. Family spends $100 on groceries, $50 on gas, $20 on fast food, $10 on movie rentals, and $20 on gifts for family or friends, for a total of $200.  Now instead of writing multiple checks, and driving up to Arby’s with no cash, Jane writes one check to Nativity of Mary School for $200 and receives the following: a $100 Cub Foods gift card, a $50 SuperAmerica gas card, $20 in Arby’s certificates, a $10 Blockbuster Video card, and a $20 Barnes & Noble gift card.   Jane still has the same $200 worth of purchasing power, but she only has written one check, and Nativity of Mary School has earned $15!

Isn’t that simple?

Don’t forget about SCRIP when you’re doing your gift shopping.  Everyone loves gift certificates, and they are a great, easy, hassle-free gift.  No returning, no exchanging, and no re-gifting.  Plus, you make money for the school!

Please send in orders on Friday for the following week, or hand-deliver them to the office on
Monday morning.  I need to place orders by 11:00 on Monday to insure that they arrive for the communication folders on Thursday.
