WELCOME TO CATHLIC SCHOOLS WEEK-See details below!

We will also begin our science unit on SPACE this week. We’ll investigate the sun, moon, stars and constellations. We’ll also learn about the life of an astronaut. We will even create our own kindergarten constellation. Watch for projects to come home. Each child is invited to bring in one item (book, toy, picture, etc) about space to share with the class at show’n tell any day this week

Our class will celebrate VALENTINES DAY on February 14th by exchanging valentines at a party put on by our room parents. For our exchange, each child is asked to decorate a (shoebox) size box at home and bring it to school on or before Wednesday, February 8th. Attached, you will find a list of names of the children in our class. Please have your child glue his/her name to his/her own box. Then have your child sign valentines for his/her classmates and glue the printed nametags to the signed valentines. Send the cards to school by February 8th for your child to distribute in the class boxes. We will open the valentines at our party on the 14th and send them home. When decorating your child’s box, please make the cover easily removable, or cut a hole big enough for your child to easily remove valentines at the party. Thanks for helping your child enjoy this fun holiday!

Beginning next Monday, February 6, Nativity children will be collecting PENNIES FOR PATIENTS to support cancer research and give aid to those who need it in our area. This is part of a national program affiliated with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s School and Youth Program.(See this coming week’s News & Notes for details of the campaign). As we study feelings in our upcoming Valentine lessons, we will also talk about empathy and dignity that we can give to those we may know with diseases such as cancer. The children will see a video with the Charlie Brown gang that will educate them about how cancer can affect children and their families and also how they can react to and interact with those whose life challenges are diseases like cancer. On Friday, each child will also bring home a collection box to carry the change and donations for this campaign to school. Keep sending in those pennies and other loose change through February 28th.
