I'm pleased to be your child's second grade teacher. I look forward to getting to know your child and working with you toward his/her success for a great school year.

Homework-is given daily Monday through Thursday in the homework folder. Usually there are one or two worksheets each night in math, spelling, reading, or religion. Sixty minutes of leisure reading per week is required.

Take home folders-One of your child's black plastic folders will be designated as a 3Weekend Take-Home Folder2 in which corrected work will be sent home. Take home folders will go home Fridays to be returned to school (empty) on Mondays.

The other black folder is the homework folder. It will be sent home with homework every day, Monday through Thursday. Finished homework should be placed in the folder and returned to school the next day.

One math worksheet will be given each day, Mon. through Thurs., one spelling worksheet will be assigned Monday to to be returned on Tuesday, and a Bible verse will be assigned Monday to be memorized by Friday. In addition, sixty minutes of reading or listening to stories is required each week.

One student per day will be responsible for bringing in a newspaper article to share with the class Tues. through Fri. (He/she will be notified the previous Monday.) Your child will be assigned to bring only four or five articles over the entire year.

Periodically, other homework will be assigned throughout the year. If your child is absent, homework will be collected until your child returns to school, or you can pick it up anytime during her/his absence.Extra time will be given for make-up homework.

Your child has a wonderful year ahead full of learning and spiritual growth. Feel free to come and see our classroom. Please keep us in your prayers throughout the year.
