Quite some time ago, when we moved the tabernacle into the sanctuary, I commented that its placement should be only provisional – that eventually we should come up with a better and more thought-out design and plan. Canon Law calls for the tabernacle to be situated in a place that is “distinguished, conspicuous, and beautifully adorned.” I ask your forgiveness for not being more determined and timely in coming up with a plan.
So, yes, my conscience has been bugging me to consider a more extensive sanctuary renovation. Mark Kieffer brought in some knowledgeable and experienced consultants to begin the discussion. So we hope to press forward to see what is possible and to see what the Holy Spirit inspires.
There is an old Latin phrase – Hic domus Dei est et porta coeli. It means, "This is the house of God and the gate to heaven." May our church be a place that always inspires within people a sense of the sacred. May we strive here at Nativity, in every way possible, to manifest to others the radiance and glory of God.
As always, please let me know your thoughts!
Heritage Days is coming up, September 18-19! Just one last reminder that Saturday evening Mass parking will be very limited. You can take the shuttle from Normandale Community College or Kennedy High School – or plan a little extra time to walk. Then stay for the community celebrating fun with all of Bloomington!
