The more we reflect on the call to be good stewards the more we grow to believe in God’s providence. We come to see more clearly all of the gifts that God pours into our lives and how He always gives us all that we need and even more.
We are able then to live our lives in a more liberated way. We become free from the fear and stress that somehow we won’t have enough. We begin to let go of that mindset of scarcity – the habit of thinking that we have to hoard and consume more than we need. In place of this we develop an outlook of abundance and we grow in gratitude and wonder to see how God is blessing us continually and often in delightful ways.
We grow to see the wonders that happen when we offer our gifts and lives in faith to God. We see that, just as the bread and wine that we offer at the altar is transformed into the Body and Blood of Jesus, so too is everything that we give to God transformed to become life-giving blessings for us and those around us.
As we grow in the spirituality of good stewardship we see what happens when we finally begin truly to trust God – with everything. I promise, when we begin to do that, it will change your life.
Life is short. When we come to the end of our days here we will see that the best and the only thing that we can do is to lay ourselves down and trust God to raise us up. The point is, it is best if we don’t wait until the final moments of our lives to do that. The more we can begin to offer all that we have and all that we are each day, here and now, the more we can see how God is transforming our lives and raising us up, here and now.
Give it to God. Put it in God’s hands. Trust. Live the life of the blessed. That’s good stewardship.
Stewardship renewal forms have been mailed to all families and members of our parish. I will be taking some time in prayer, before I fill out my form, to pray and to reflect on all that God has done for me. Then I will make a pledge to surrender in love and trust my time, my talent, my treasure, and all of my life into God’s hands.
God can transform our parish, our families, and our lives. We just need to put them in His hands.
Thanks for all of your many expressions of faith and love here at Nativity of Mary!
