Our parish has received a very generous financial gift from one of our own families. They had heard that there were some maintenance and upkeep issues around the parish that, because of our limited finances, we had been deferring – and they told us they wanted to help!
So thanks to the benevolence of these faithful people, you soon will notice some work being done around the parish. Here are some of the projects we have begun or hope soon to begin:
· Replace the front doors of the church (Door #9) – These will include etched glass and handicap access.
· Repair the roof over the gathering space and repair the skylights
· Create a new reception area at the Door #1 entrance – This will provide better direction and a more welcoming first impression for visitors of our parish and school.
· Refinish wood ceiling in the church worship space
· Update the church worship space lighting system
The gift was quite substantial so after some of these projects have been taken care of we still might have enough funds also to install some exterior signage around the parish and school. We hope to invest some of the funds in our Legacy Endowment Fund and/or establish a contingency fund for future needs too.
This financial gift has given me the hope that, once these projects have been taken care of, we might be able next to raise some money to beautify our church sanctuary and worship space. Thanks to the suggestions of staff and parishioners in the past year we moved the tabernacle to the sanctuary and the Theotokos icon was hung beautifully in our chapel. The wheels of our imagination have begun to spin wondering what more we can do to lift the minds and hearts of people to God and His sacred beauty as they come to Nativity of Mary to pray.
It puts a lump in my throat to see how God is blessing the love, faith, and offerings of His people here at Nativity of Mary – helping us to grow in worship and service so that for generations to come we can be a steadfast presence of the Body of Christ in our community. Thanks to all of you, truly, for your countless offerings of time, talent, and treasure here at the parish.
Trusting God together for even greater blessings still to come!
