Dear Parishioners,
As I shared during the Masses last weekend, we recently discovered that someone gained access to our safe and stole the money bags containing our weekend collections. As I continue to work with the Bloomington Police Department, the Archdiocese, and our insurance carrier, I wanted to answer several common questions that have come up:
Q: Which weekend’s collections were stolen?
A: July 19/20
Q: I had written a check, should I stop payment with my bank?
A: That is a personal decision for you to make. We do ask that you notify the Parish Office if someone attempts to cash that check.
Q: Were any donations that I placed in the offertory mail slot by the Welcome Desk affected?
A: No
Q: If I typically give online, would my donation be affected?
A: No
Q: Should I make another donation for the weekend of July 19/20?
A: If you would like to reissue a check for that weekend, you certainly can. We just ask that you please use the memo line on your envelope and/or your check to indicate that the donation is for the “Weekend of July 19/20” so we know your intentions.
Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience or loss this causes you. As you can imagine, we are extremely saddened by this event and are taking measures to prevent it from happening again. For now, please say a prayer for our parish and a prayer for the conversion of the heart of whoever stole the money.
Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Bill Duffert
