Knights of Columbus: New Grand Knight & Honorary Knights

Yectli Huerta is the new Grand Knight for the Marian Council 3827 Knights of Columbus replacing Roderick Maddox for the one-year term.  Huerta has been a member of the Knights for seven years moving up through Warden and Deputy Grand Knight. His goal is to involve more Knights and their families in the many Council activities. The council has 1,000 members, most in Minnesota. He is employed at the Super Computer Center at the University of Minnesota, and recently received his doctorate in Scientific Computation.

 

Recently the Knights recognized:

Jean Snyder as the Marian Council 3827 Auxiliary"s  "Auxilian of the Year" for her service as vice president, secretary and treasurer.  She has been a leader in many projects in the auxiliary and at St. Peters Catholic church in Richfield.  Her professional background is in Finance where she organized clothing drives, senior food shelf.  At her church of St. Peters in Richfield, she has taught religion and is a Eucharistic Minister. She likes to see results and wishes more women would join. Her husband Ron is a strong supporter of her active life.

 

Ed Wilson has been recognized as the 2022 Knight of the Year.  Wilson has demonstrated leadership in his service to the Marian Council Knights of Columbus by serving in various roles including as Grand Knight, member of the Fraternal Board.and  the Gambling Board. He has served on many Council committees including the Fish Frys, and Tootsie Roll Drives. At his Parish of St. Edward's, he has been an usher, Parish Council, and administration. With a college degree in business, he has had a 40+ year career in sales and marketing foods. He and his wife Sue have two daughters.

 

Kay and Dominic Violante were named the Family of the Year for 2022.  At Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edina, Dominic has served on the parish council, the teaching committee, belongs to the Men’s Club and is an usher.  He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1970 at several councils where he resided. He volunteers with the “lunch bunch”, Loaves and Fishes, brats and hot dog stand at Cub Foods, serves as manager of the door hosts, coordinates Tootsie Roll drives at OLG and was treasurer of the Home Association. Kay has been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for over 10 plus years, she helps decorates the tables before every meeting, works with Loaves and Fishes, serves on the Silent Auction Committee during the Adult Christmas parties.  They have been married for 66 years.
